What is self value? and why do my employees need training in this area. You might think that your employees know what self value is, and that they value themselves and everybody else. Well, this is the assumption, because we think that everybody loves and values themselves because it is the norm but this is not always the case. For many reason such they were never taught now to love and value themselves when they were children. While this should be the case we have seen from our daily lives or in situations that human beings are driven by the lack of self value end up doing things that could hurt them as well as others. In this article we will define what self value is, where we can get it from and what are its benefits once trained in this area.
True Self value first and for most originates from understanding that they are made wonderful, fearfully and loved greatly by their creator God. Self value is knowing that we are special, unique and full of greatness because Our creator God made us that way. It is in knowing that we are beautiful on the inside and great not because we do right but because it is how we were made. Everybody on the face of the earth was born special and that fact and it is also truth. After reading this definition which will not be found in the dictionary; you will agree that some people don’t know that they are special and wonderful on the inside. They use material things, drugs, alcohol, self confidence and many more or they wait for other people to tell them that they are special without realising that they were born that way. The danger in getting our worth and value out of people opinions of us instead of our creator; is that human affection and approval can be taken away at any time and their opinions of us are not always positive irrespective of whether we are good to them or not. If someone says we are special; what happens when they don’t treat us that way anymore or if we wrong them. Well, that approval can be taken away and then what happens to our self-value? Most likely then it changes because they changed and thus their identity is lost or taken away.
For example, as the employer, if you try to correct an employee, who does not value themselves; instead of receiving that correction gracefully and with an understanding that it is his or her own good and that of the company; that employee could interrupt that correct as rejection or criticism, and two things will happen. Either they will think they have to work and do everything perfectly so they don’t get rejected again and to get back your approval which you still have of them but their insecurity clouds that; or worse they could become very defensive and thus unable to be teachable or to be trained. This could led to you firing them when you did not need to or feeling uncomfortable around them every time you try to correct them because you know that they won’t receive it the way they should. Before you start thinking about letting them go; as the employer who wants to thrive in your business, it is important to think strategically about what the problem is.

This is because they want to please the other employees whose opinions of him or her is constantly on the front fold of their decisions. Therefore, they could make the wrong decision which could range from stealing, gossiping, revealing important information about the company to other employees who are not supposed to know simply because they want to be well thought of. However, if they know who they are: and that is to love themselves and value themselves, understanding that they are special and wonderfully made; their minds are open to think about the benefits of others (work as a team) or better to say that of vision, business or company (they will follow you whole heartedly).
Inner self-value in an employee’s; thus locates you with the right candidates for your business. For example, once people are trained in loving themselves, and they understand that they are unique with true talents and gifts; two things will happen. The first, some of them could leave your company, you vision or business but rejoices because it means that their heart was never in your vision or business to begin with, and are better suited elsewhere. Secondly, those that choose to stay will have more confidence in what they are doing and thus function in a department that compliment them which will benefit your business. This means they will work more excellently because they are working from the heart (they believe in your business etc) and that is what you need. For example, you might have a employee in accounts, they do an okay job; they don’t make any mistakes but they are not coming up with any new ideas nor is the work excellent. So let’s say we come to your company and do a workshop on self value and we train them regularly. They learn that they are special and unique. They learn that there is something they can do great that others cannot and they learn that they are born with gifts and talents. That employee then discovers that they are really good at administration and organisation. So they start functioning in this gift. All of the sudden the company is better organised. You see that deadlines are met on time, and the employee is even happier and more positive, in this work and when he receives correction. This is the kind of great changes that we have brought to many companies and business as well as individuals and we want to bring it to you.
If those that work for you are trained in valuing themselves you will find that your employees will be more focused on working to move your vision forward rather than causing discord, gossip or rumours about the company or you which could create a negative spirit that holds back the progress of your company back and you won’t know why. Self value training can definitely reduce strife because people will feel better about themselves meaning they will get along better with each other. This will cause them to be more secure not insecure about themselves which will cause them to value others and treat others with the respect they have given to themselves because they have self value now.
