After yesterday and today- I am reminded of the importance of hope. I am reminded that I need to stay in the arena of hope always and every day because there’s hopelessness everywhere, and there people that are in need of hope. There are people that need us to hope for them- to remind them to hope in tough situations and circumstances.

I have heard a lot of bad news this week because a few of the people that I know and care about have shared a few of their challenges in their own life and I found myself advising them to hope. I found myself remembering how blessed I am to know certain principles of positive, godly thinking because although we all go through challenges- how we look and think about our challenges will affect our mood, our faith and hope. I found myself telling this particular person to hold on to hope. I could see and hear the hopelessness in their voice.

Check out this message by Joel Osteen on Hope:

The reason why I was able to advise others hope is because I know what it is like to lose hope. It’s a horrible darkness. I thank God that I knew enough of the word that with the Holy Spirit I was able to recover within a few days to a week. I also have a relationship with the Holy Spirit- who gave me specific instructions that helped me to recover. Hopelessness easily welcomes depression, fear and anxiety, to changes the way you see life. I am sharing this because maybe you are in that arena and are not aware-because if I am honest I was not aware of what it was that I was feeling and because I know the word of God I just use the word of God to get me back to my foundation. I do remember the Holy Spirit reminding me to believe again, to hope again, and trust again even if I get hurt again.

You see, I found out that people don’t just give up in life, most people fight for themselves for years before they give up. Why do I know this because that is what nearly slid me into an experience of hopelessness? A lot of people who fall into depression or hopelessness have given up the fight to stay hopeful, to believing that life can get better. They have been consumed with hopelessness that it is all they see. They don’t feel they are strong enough to believe, to hope, to have faith anymore and I writing this article to tell you that you can do this.

I am writing to tell you, to HOPE because it is your way out. I know you see darkness right now; I know it feels like life just doesn’t work- but fight, even if it is just by deciding to look at a sunrise and a sunset. That is something the lord used for me to help me to hope again. I actually found healing in watching the sun rise and set every day. Another thing the Holy Spirit helped with was he knows I like nature- so he gave me an idea to change my wallpaper on my iPad and my iPhone so that I would look at the colours of spring (I would see hope, growth, and harvest). As simple as it sounds it really helped me and slowly everyday- I would look at the lovely wall paper of spring and my spirit would feel lifted.

Hope is a beautiful word. It’s a powerful word. It’s an anointed word that gives people and me so much strength. It was when I was meditating on this that revelation hit me; that it is so important for me and you to lift people up. It is so important to encourage people. I want to share something that God has reminded me of and that is “you don’t know what the person next to you is going through.” I have spoken  to and I have been round to people that seem so happy and so okay externally but they are going through tough times or are anxious or depressed and we just don’t know. This week I have talked to 3 people that needed hope and I was reminded to be good to people where I am, because maybe my smile or a simple good morning or thankful, or you look lovely is the flicker of light they are looking for. People need to be lifted up, they need help, encouragement, and to speak life into them and truth into them because they need it.

It’s amazing the answer you will get when you ask people how they are, or how their weekend was. Some people will tell you and others won’t but I want to speak to you who are hopeless. Hope Again and again. Hope against hope, it is your right and it is a principle that will help you get through this. You are not alone. You are going to make it. I am not saying that things will always work out exactly as we planned- but it will help you get through it. Don’t give up. I know it can be tough and hard not to, but stay hopeful, say joyful on the inside. One of the reasons why what my friends told me this week affected me so much is it reminding me to also hope more. To hold on to hope, I was challenged by my own advice and encouragement. I was reminded that it is okay to talk to people, to talk to someone about what you are experiencing because we were both able to comfort each other. I was reminded to not be or become a perfectionist but to be me and to work through life. I was reminded of family, how important they are in times like this.

So I want to bring God into this conservation. God is the God of Hope. He is a positive God. He makes beautiful promises to us about hope and he always encourages us HOPE. God is your life, your sugar, your substance, your faith, your life. I know it does not seem like it but it is true, because I have been there once or twice. Firstly get to know his word. Find out what he says about hope and you and allow it to encourage you and comfort you. For Example Romans 15:13 tells us that the more we hope, the more it multiplies. Have a read-

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

So that means that when we choose to hope in God- we will see more outcomes of what can change or how our situation can get better which produces hope and faith that our lives are changing for the better. Another scripture shares this: “The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.–Psalm 121:7-8 NIV

Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:5NIV

I am sharing these scriptures with you, to encourage you, I hope these scriptures have strengthened you and you want more of them. God’s word is powerful; it is alive and active in you. So when you read, and study this word; it goes into your spirit and any darkness in there will flee because the word of God is light, it is a light in that darkness you are in. Is it depression? It is fear? It is anxiety? It is lack of hope and faith? Well stay will hoping in God. Stay believing that he has you and he will not let you fall, he will help you, and he will establish you. Whatever you do, don’t give up.

So for now I want you to see the word of God- going into your soul and chasing out any darkness in there. See the word of God as medicine to the hopelessness you feel in your soul. Use the word of God to help you see something different to what you have been seeing. God is your light. Pray to him, meditate about him, mediate on what he has done for you before and what he could do for you. Let the word of God into you and I promise you will feel better with time and will become addicted to his word and his presence.

I am praying for you and I love you. Abound in Hope.
