Trust and Humility

I am a tree planted in hot desert yet my leaves are a shiny emerald.
I bear multiple fruits.
The sun never stops shinning, blazing and burning the other trees that have no roots
The heat dries them up. Dry, miserable, weak, and helpless
This heat never comes close to me nor do I fear the heat.
For my roots are long and deep in the water.
Every day I grow bigger and taller bearing more fruit.
I am constantly in celebration waving my multiple hands up in the air.

Left and right. North to south.
I am happy.
I am shielded and covered.
I neither worry nor am I anxious because I do not look after myself.
Want to know my biggest secret?
I put my trust, my all, myself into the hands of God.
He knows more than I.
For he is all God Almighty.
He knows everything about me and has given me a future full of success.
He sustains and teaches me.
He guides me into new ways of life.
He keeps my fruit fresh and my leaves green.

I am not independent of myself for that is spiritual death.
Nor do I do nothing on my own.
So when troubles come he fights for me and keeps me cool.
I never go thirsty for he is my water.
My living Manna
I am an oasis in a hot desert.
Tall, beautiful with numerous fruits.
I bring glory to my father.
I attract others for him to look after and help.
My new nature and success is for his glory.

This poem was inspired by Jeremiah 17:7-8. This was one of the first bible verses the Holy Spirit introduced to me. It was probably the first verse I meditated on with an intention to grow in a specific area and that the time it was trust and humility. These verses helped me to really trust God with my life. It helped me to give my will over to God. It helped me build my faith in the lord and in his word. I believe the Holy Spirit used this scripture to teach me humility which is something I found difficult to do because I wanted to be in control of my own life, as I was afraid that God would not give me the things I wanted; little did I know that he was trying to protect me from myself and my own selfish, destructive desires. The holy Ghost used this to help me to start walking at the pace of the spirit.
