Greetings to you. You who is reading this. Let me first tell you that you are in for a treat as you read this article. Be ready to know and develop an ultimate love story with the only one that can satisfy you in all things. It is not people that can make you feel whole; that can make you happy and successful, it is in the one that I am about to introduce you to. Before I do that let us take care of a-few things. Many of you have heard of God and Jesus. Whether you believe that he was and still is the son of God or whether you are an atheist and you just have no interest in God. Someone of you believe but it is mere religion because you don’t have a personal and intimate relationship with God. This article is to help you enjoy your life, to help you have a joy that you can only get God. Let’s be honest our number one need is to be happy and enjoy life and guess what Jesus said he come to do? He says in John 10:10 AMP:
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [a]overflows).”
You see life is awful without peace and joy, but we don’t have to live life that way, we can enjoy our lives every day. Isn’t wonderful that one of the reasons why God sent Jesus is so you can enjoy your life but to also have his life (the life of God in you through the Holy Spirit) and nature in you? Which religion offers this beautiful gift? None of them do because there’s only one true God and one mediator and that is Jesus Christ. However before we go on any further let us start with the explanation of why we need a deep personal friendship with God.
You see from the beginning from the beginning of time, when God created this world and us, man and God were friends, and were intimate. It was a natural way for a relationship with God and man. Man was not always ashamed and afraid nor was he always hiding from God. No, Adam had a personal relationship with God, in fact he knew nothing different. God created human beings to love them, and for them to love him; to have a great personal relationship with him. He created us for love, which shows that God is our source in that we need his love and presence in order for us to be fulfilled in life. Many people have a desire for love and think that they can find that acceptance in relationships. They put pressure on each other in relationships which ultimately does not work because every human being needs to be whole first in their relationship with God, knowing him and his word, by receiving his love and having a deep personal relationship with God, and if they don’t have that relationship, their other relationships also suffer. By now some of you are asking where Jesus comes in. Okay before we introduce the purpose of Jesus, who he was and what he came to do, let us see how man and God related to each other. In Genesis we see the relationship of God, what it was like and how it fell apart: Genesis:1:26-28
Genesis:1:26-28: “God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
Genesis 2:10: “And out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight or to be desired—good (suitable, pleasant) for food; the tree of life also in the centre of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of [the difference between] good and evil and blessing and calamity.”
Genesis 2:15-16: “And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden.”
You see from the first chapter that God created mankind in his image. This was for many reason and one of those reason was so that both God and man could relate to each other probably since they were created to be like him. You can also see that God desired to share his love and likeness with them. This shows me that God is a giver and already in this relationship with Adam, God gave him love, dominion and a lovely garden the Garden of Eden to live in before Adam could ever give anything back to God. This also shows that God takes care of us and it is not our responsibility but his because he is our father and our God. Another thing to consider here is to in genesis 2:10-15 is that man was put in a beautiful garden where he and God could talk to him and have a conversation with. Can you imagine that all that Adam knew was the word of God, they talked according to God’s word because he did not know anything else? This is wonderful. Why is this important? Because we find out later in Deuteronomy 8:3 NKJV: “that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.”
Before they both sinned they lived by the word of God. This is God design for all his creation because it was by the word that mankind was made and it is by the word that mankind will be sustained. So we see in that God and man communicated regularly even though the bible does not say that they communicated frequently it is pretty obvious that the presence of God was all that Adam knew. This is another reason why the Garden of Eden places such a significant part in the story of man and God in that is represents the ultimate glory and presence of God. You see Adam’s dependence on God, his fellowship with him and listening to the instructions was the safest place for him. Man and God had a fellowship, they knew God like a friend, yet he was still their God. So you are wondering what happened or why this friendship was broken and how it has been fixed. Let’s see what happened. So by now God has commanded man not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they have disobeyed his instruction. Now let’s see what happens next in genesis 3:9-11 AMP:
“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, where are you? He said, I heard the sound of You [walking] in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself. And He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
Immediately Adam and eve become aware of their nakedness which represents their disobedience. Before in Genesis 2:25 we are told that they were both “man and his wife were both naked and were not embarrassed or ashamed in each other’s presence.” I think this represents the perfection they had in God in that they were sinless and thus had nothing to be embarrassed about because they were first and fore-most dressed in spiritually in his word, abiding by his word, his presence and were also not afraid of God. When they did what God told them not to do they were naked because they were no longer dressed spiritually due to their disobedience, and going against Gods word and because of that Mankind become afraid of God because they become conscious of their sin and now imperfection as well as Gods perfection and holiness.
However we see here that irrespective of what they did, God still came and desire to talk to Adam and his wife. God’s desire for friendship with his children and with mankind was still apparent as we see here in genesis 3. It also shows us that God did not change how he treated them because he still came to talk to them. This also shows us that Gods love for us does not change because we do something wrong but he being a God who is holy, perfect and a God of Justice; must deal with sin. And after that we see that God had a plan to restore that relationship with man again and this is where Jesus and the purpose of this article is going to make sense. Genesis 3:11 God said to the devil:
“I’m declaring war between you and the Woman, between your offspring and hers. He’ll wound your head, you’ll wound his heel.”
The love of God is clear here as we see immediately that God had a plan to restore the relationship between God and man. We see that God promises that there will be an off-spring that will come from a woman who would declare war against the devil and who would destroy and triumph over his plans to destroy mankind, God’s people, his children. Oh how he loves you and me so much. This means that through that offspring mankind will receive their authority back, because they handed it over to satan through that disobedience. That off-spring God was talking about is off-course Jesus. And we see this in john 3:16 where he says: John 3:16 (NLT) “For this is how God loved the world: He gave[a] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” I think after reading the story in genesis you know see the link in the scripture I have just given to you above. God sent Jesus because he love you and me and the world. It was not just for the forgiveness of sins but for also that man can have the eternal life that God has in them. You see God is so amazing and he desire such intimacy but this time it will be even better in that the life of God will be in a human person when they become born again. To be born again is to be born of the spirit by believing that your sins are forgiven; by accepting that Jesus Christ died for your sins and was raised from the dead now lives in you through the Holy Spirit.
This is how I see it, man was going to live forever but God did not want them to eat the tree of life in their state of disobedience because if they did then they would live for-ever in that fallen state, hence he took them out of the Garden, but now that Jesus has come, he also came with eternal life as well as so that man can have that fellowship with God. Man did not have to feel inferior anymore because through Christ he gave them his holiness through his righteousness. This also made us automatically sons and daughters of God not children of the devil. Do you see the love of God here and how strong it is, do you see the effort and the extent of his love that through Jesus you can have a relationship?
However what I find even more beautiful is that yes man and God can know have a deep relationship but it is different now because God is no longer dwelling in tents, or on mountains away from his people like he did in the Old Testament. In the New Testament his is no longer in the ark, rather his desire to be so close to us is so deep that he chooses to make us his home when we receive him through Christ. When you receive Christ as your saviour God comes through the Holy Spirit to live in you so you can live a life of purpose, fulfilment, and have life as he has. Okay so now that I have explained this to and you understand that God loves you, how about you give him all of you, your love and your time. He has already demonstrated his love for you, so all you and I have to do is to love him back and the best way you can do by doing his word, spending time with him daily and in all things, to love him and his word, and make him your best friend. So let’s go over to the next topic.
Walk with God
After the first section you now see how much intimacy and friendship God desires with his children and people. I want to encourage you to walk with God. What do you mean walk with God? I mean become aware of his presence, his character, his motives and purpose for your life. Some of you have a best friend and when they are in a room, you notice them. In-fact you naturally gravitate towards each other without any force, you have this natural friendship and connections that cannot be explained but you both know it’s real. Well these are just examples of what we can have with God. Just like you hang out with that friend frequently, you tell them almost everything, you don’t want to hurt them, you want to build them up, you stand up for them and many more is what you should give to God. You see there many reasons why we should walk with God after we receive salvation. The first one is that he is our father, our God, our creator and the owner of all things. We see this in John 16:3-4 NLT:
“For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.”
We see here that only God has the power, the wisdom and the eternal life to save mankind. This shows us that there’s no other god or religion that can save mankind from the destruction of this world and this shows me that God is in charge but it also shows me that he loves us deeply and that he is good. We see this further in Jeremiah 29:11 NLT where God tells us: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” which shows us that God is a good God who desires good for us and want to give us our hearts desire. We see that we can trust him simply because God is a good God and can place our life in his hands because he loves us as we see in john 3:16. Furthermore in Matthew 6:33 AMP “the bible tells us to “seek aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness His way of doing and being right), and then all these things [c]taken together will be given you besides.” This shows us that in God there’s everything we need, from finding love, a husband, wife, friend, job, business, dream, house, car and many more. So how nice would it be to walk with someone that has everything because it means that you will also have everything. All you need is in him because all thing come from him. God knows exactly what you need and what you need at the perfect time. He fulfils you and makes you content.
Walking with God always keeps you on the right path with God, yourself and with your fellow man. For example we see this in genesis 17:1 where God calls Abraham into a convent saying “…I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.” Abraham become a friend of God, he answered Gods call to become the father of man nations. What I am trying to show you here is that when you walk with God, you acknowledge the lordship he has in your life in realising that you need him because everything you need is in God. So walking with God is simply making sure that you give him place that in your life that only belongs to him. It means making him your friend and talking to him about everything. It is running to him when someone has hurts you, you talk to him about everything no matter how little or how large it is. You make God your best friends because he is awesome and amazing. You walk with him and are a blameless because you understand that he with him you will know the right thing to do in every situation. He will teaches us his righteous ways and as time goes on we find out what who we are in him because we are made in his image and belong to him, so to be acquainted with his ways is to be acquainted with ourselves.
When you walk with God you will know your purpose and vision
The best way to start building this friendship with God that I am talking about is spending time with his regularly when you wake up. When you spend time in his word, speaking to him in the spirit and in your understanding, talking to him about your day and the purpose he has for you. This is where you really get to know the Plans God has for you, you get to know why you are on this planet and what you can contribute to humanity. When you walk with God like this where you relate to him as someone who knows your heart more than you do then you will start seeing visions of yourself, visions of yourself doing mighty and amazing things that he has destined for you to do. This is where he will show you the steps to take in that vision, in that business and plan you have, this is where he is will shows you what matters in your life, according to the purpose he has given you. This demonstrated beautifully in proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct[a] your paths.” This scriptures shows that when we walk with God we trust in him with our hearts and minds knowing that as we walk with him everything he tells us to do is for our own good and as you see that everything he tells you to do works out for our good we will begin to trust him even more and reverence him even more in everything.
Following this principle will enable you to acknowledge him more because you will realise his goodness, you will be acquainted with his ways and soon you will be walking with him where you and him are one: where miracles are the become the norm to you. This is where because you walk with him daily and are you in union with him, all negative circumstances and situations automatically submit to you because you are acquainted with God who is all powerful. Because God is good, all good things run to him, goodness is attracted to God because all good come from him and evil runs from him because he is all good. Therefore all good things naturally come to you because you walk with God and he walks with you. This is said in psalms 34:8 (NKJV) “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” The beautiful thing about God about walking with God goes by the principle that you become more of who you hang out with, but since we have his nature and were created in his likeness we are revealed more and more to who were really are, in who he created us to be. The same applies to you purpose. Since God is the one who created you and gave you your vision it means that only he can help you fulfil your that purpose because he knows exactly what you must do and how to do it. So I encourage you make the lord you friend. Make him your hope and confidence, your life, and everything will always work out for your own good.
Fall in Love with God: Receive your first love
Now that we have discussed the importance of the walking with God, in acknowledging him in everything that you do and I trust you understand the importance of knowing him. You get to know him not because you want things from him but because you have come to understand his goodness, his righteous ways and love. So in this section we are going to be looking at your first love. Although I have proven that in the first section where through the relationship God had with Adam and Eve that God made mankind for love, it means God should always be our first love before we receive or love other people. This is so vital I cannot over emphasis how important this it because, no matter your age you need to know the love of the God, as our father. For children, it is God’s plan that their parents know the love of God and can therefore pass on that love from them to their children who can grow whole with value and self-esteem.
God says in Proverbs 8:17 AMP says that “I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and diligently shall find me” and in Psalms 33:18 NLT we also see the power of God’s love:“But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love.” The first scriptures illustrates that when seek God with our whole heart, we are showing that we need him and that he is our vital and much needed medicine. This shows that for someone of us who feel worthless, whose identity is mixed up, we can recognise that he is our everything including our value then we can be healed from all emotional illness: insecurities and lack of self-value and we are promised to find that love and value in him because there’s everything we need because he is our father and every children needs that love from their parents. We see in psalms 33:18 that God watches over those who delight in his unfailing love. When we know the love of God we are made whole and emotionally strong. The love of God brings balance in relationships in that we no longer have to rely on material things, society, jobs, statues or relationships to keep us satisfied and whole because they are not God and will never be able to do so nor do they have the capacity to do so. When you walk with God, become acquainted with all his ways, and develop a deep personal relationship with God you have integrity and are clothed with honour not dishonour because he shows you who you really are that is his child who is like him. We see all these wonderful blessing in Isaiah 61: 1-3:
“He has sent me to comfort the broken hearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favour has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.”
“You will be called priests of the Lord, ministers of our God. You will feed on the treasures of the nations and boast in their riches. Instead of shame and dishonour, you will enjoy a double share of honour. You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. “For I, the Lord, love justice. I hate robbery and wrongdoing. I will faithfully reward my people for their suffering and make an everlasting covenant with them.”
Wow did you see these promises, and how amazing they are, God wants to give you everything that is good, everything that will lift you up higher, everything that belongs to him to you, that will heal you and help you become all that he destined you to be in him. How amazing is it to have a God that wants to pour all the goodness he has into you. The lord is so awesome. You see no religion will ever fulfil and give you the things that you desire the way God Almighty does, no religion offers this to you for free. Religion tells you to work for it, but it is Jesus’ desire to give these promises to you for free because he wants you and as said in the first section he is your father that loves you and desire your fellowship and friendship. I don’t see why people wouldn’t want what God offers, this is not religion, this is life and love which is what every human being thirst after but never finds unless they give God their heart.
God desire your heart, he desires all of you, your hurts, your past, you mistakes, your intellect, your mind, you words and emotions simply so he can help you. He is your first love, your only one true love, the love that you need to receive in order to enjoy other relationships. What you have been searching for that you thought was in drinking, sex, men, women, relationships, friendship was never in those things as you have found out but in God. Walk with him, fall in love with him because God is lovable. You cannot hang out with God not fall in love with him because he is everything you need. When people met Jesus they couldn’t help themselves but to fall in love with him, they followed him and gave up their lives for him; they desired his presence because he was a joy and answer to them, Jesus was just like his father because they are one and when you spend time with god you receive them same promises, the same comfort that he gave to his disciple. Jesus desires you heart. Befriend him and you will not regret it. I will continue this blog in part 2 of my next article.
Write back to me and let me know what you think. Have a great day.
